Should I pay $100 to upgrade to an amd radeon video card?

In the customization menu of the dell inspiron 14r you can upgrade from an Intel HD Graphics/HD Graphics 3000 with up to 1.6GB Dynamic Video Memory to an AMD Radeon™ HD 6470M (64-bit) 1GB Graphic. (yeah, i just copied and pasted, I have no idea what these things mean.) is it worth the $100 to buy the upgrade?|||If you plan on playing games, then definitely. Intel 3000 is NOT a gaming card.|||Are you going to be gaming??? Are you going to be using Google Earth or AutoCAD Programs? If Yes, then Yes.

It really depends, but if you plan or doing anything that is "Graphically Intensive", then the AMD Radeon will be very fast. The Intel Integrated Graphics is cheap, it usually comes with Netbooks. Dedicated means the Computer places all the "Graphics" part of the program in 1 place, so it makes it easier to access, rather than sharing it with the RAM where all your other programs are placed for quick access. It is just like have a Library, but instead of having 1 room for both studying and playing, you would have 1 room. Then your Computer will have a harder time to find out which is which.

But if you only use it for Home-Work, light gaming, and Web-Surfing or VERY LIGHT games like Chess, get a bigger Hard-Drive (7200 RPM, makes your computer load programs faster and boot-up faster), or a faster processor.

Hope this helps :)|||I would. the intel is crappy for drawing a decent frame rate in gaming. overall the AMD is a better performer
