If i have a intel 82945g express chipset family video card, can i replace it with a ati radeon video card?

if you have a portable computer, you have to stick with the Video chip set which comes with your portable.



if you have a desktop computer with a VGA (or PCI-Express) port available, yes, buying an ATI Radeon card is a good idea;

first unistall the current driver:

right click on My Computer,

click Properties,

click on Hardware and click on the Device Manager button. click on the [+] next to Display adapter;

right click on the line that appears underneath Display adapter and

click on Properties

click on Driver and click on the Uninstall button and click Yes or OK as needed.



when the PC is restarting you have to go into the BIOS of your computer (watch the bottom of the screen when it first displays something and look for an instruction like «hit XXX to access your BIOS»

XXX can be DEL or F2 or something like this.

once in the BIOS, you need to go to advanced features and look for something like Default VGA; choice will be Internal or External (2nd might be VGA port).

choose the 2nd one (External / VGA port aso.)

save the change (and restart your PC) by pressing the F10 key;

when the PC is displaying the 1st screen again hit the key to access the BIOS, again. once the BIOS screen is displayed, power off the PC (hold the power button for 4 seconds).



install the video card in the computer



Windows will now detect your (new) ATI card and offer to install a driver for it; if you don't plan to play games or do advanced graphics, you can let Windows install its own driver.

if you need 3D / OpenGL support, go to http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html (ATI's driver download page) to get the latest driver; i would advice to download ONLY the Driver (*NOT* the Catalyst suite, it will only bug down your PC). once it is downloaded, start the installation program and follow its instructions.|||If it's an on-board video chip, then you can't replace it. But you can put in a radeon graphics card, and use that instead. There's nothing wrong with having two video cards in a computer. Most computers can handle it without any problem.

Radeon video card and monitor problems?

I have a radeon 6780 and I'm trying to hook it up to my 32inch samsung lcd tv so that i can watch movies online threw the hdmi cable connection...but what im having problems with is that it only works in clone mode i want it to work in extended mode so that i can tweak the settings in games like cod2 and mw2 ect...how do i make it so i can use it in extended mode without having to switch back to clone mode to watch movies..? hope this is understandable lol !|||Windows 7 = Right click desktop > Screen resolution

Can I use a certain Radeon video card and AMD processors with my motherboard?

Ok, here's the deal I never paid attention to what sort of motherboard I have until now, since I want to get rid of my old 8800 GT (Nvidia) video card and my piece of crap Phenom 9600 processor. The Nvidia has served me well throughout its life but now I want to get a Radeon HD 5850 video card and a Intel Core i7-860 Processor. My motherboard is an HT2000 motherboard (not really sure about anything else) with the PCI express card slot and stuff. Not really sure about the chipset but if it helps I bought my computer from Gateway (Its an FX7020) as one of those pre-built gaming computers (I wasn't gonna build my own just yet). Also I do not know if I have an adequate power supply for what I want to do, but hopefully someone can find out what PSU this piece of crap came with since I cannot figure this out. Thank you, and only informed responses please|||Because you had an AMD processor, then you have an AMD motherboard. You'll have to get a new motherboard that supports Core i7's and that also has a PCI-e slot, which it would be almost impossible to find one without it.

Sapphire AGP Radeon Video Card Repair?

Hello Folks,

Anyone know of a service that will repair PC video cards? This card cost over $500.00 in 2003 and is out of manufacture's warranty and Sapphire does not offer repair services, but the card is still covered under the MasterCard warranty.

But MC card wants either a written repair estimate or a written statement of not repairable. If I can get either then MC will cover the cost.

Any help would be really great.

or would u go do is take the card to a local pc shop. and ask them to write a letter saying repair of the card would be impossible and make up something like burn curcuits internal in the graphical core etc..

Thank you..|||Yes this will work perfectly fine. The reason that this will work is because when you plug in your monitor as long as its plugged into the graphics card and not the motherboard, it will the card for display. You will need to install the appropriate drivers though once you get the card hooked up. The type of memory that a video card uses is GDDR memory. This does not have an effect on the memory you put into your motherboard.

Will this Powercolor Radeon video card be compatible with my motherboard?

I want to buy a new video card for my rig, and decided on the Powercolor Radeon HD 4670 DDR4 128bit. Would this card be compatible with my motherboard, an EMAXX EMX-945GC-1066? The PCIE on my board isn't 2.0, though i have read that 2.0 cards are backwards compatible. While we're at it, are there any better video card options within the price range of the HD 4670?|||You need to google 'EMAXX EMX-945GC-1066 motherboard' and it will list what video cards are compatible with it
